How to Divide a Word into Syllables

The key to divide a word into syllables is to identify the syllable markers.

1, Hyphen (-):

We can divide a word at the hyphen.

For example,
"daap-on" → daap + onTone

2, Symbols:
We can separate a word after a tone symbol: j”,“x”,“q”,“r”.
For example:

samjcingx → samj + cingx
coengxkeix → coengx + keix
maaqsoengh → maaq + soengh
hoirsoier → hoir + seoirInitial

3, Consonant Symbols:
We can separate a word before the symbol of the initial consonant: b, c, d, f, l, s, y, z.
For example:

aabaak → aa + baak
gamjcinx → gamj + cinx
ngoqdeih → ngoq + deih
sinjfaaj → sinj + faaj
daaihlouh → daaih + louh
zoursanx → zour + sanx
houryanx → hour + yanx
zipzukj → zip + zukj

There are 8 letters that can serve multiple roles:

1, M, N, and G can be used both as initial consonants and as endings.
2, P, T, and K can also be used both as initial consonants and as endings.
3, H can be used as an initial consonant and as a tone.
4, W can be used as an initial consonant and can combine with other letters to form a new initial consonant.

When dividing a word, we can follow three principles:

1, Divide the word from right to left.
2, Make each syllable as long as possible.
3, A syllable can have one initial consonant, one rhyme, one ending, and one tone, but no more than one of each part.

Examples:

1, "r" is a tone that can combine with other letters.
2. "i" + "r" is a legal combination."o" + "i" + "r" is also legal.
3, "h" + "o" + "i" + "r" is legal too.
4, "i" + "h" + "o" + "i" + "r" is not legal because there are two finals ("i") in the syllable.
5, "H" + "o" + "i" + "r" is the longest legal syllable, so we choose this one.
